Even the most seemingly fearless people fear something. Other people are consumed by fear. They are afraid all of the time. Some of these fears are justified and others are not but to the person who is experiencing the fear it feels very real and scary.
I have completed a series of fused glass pieces that explores the topic of fear. Within each piece there is a female figure that flows through the series confronting situations that cause fear.
Some of the fears that I have chosen to interpret are external such as Fear of Hate. Others are internal such as Fear of Going In Circles. Some of the works can function as interpretations of both external and internal fears such as Fear of Being Hurt By Love and Hurting Those That I Love and Fear of Violence. Some of the works are absolutely catastrophic such as Fear of Global Warming and Fear of Nuclear War. Those works were the most difficult to produce because the reality is that we have no control over such tragedies.

The series was very difficult to produce. It forced me to think about things that I would rather not think about. But one thing is for certain. We will all experience fear at some point. Bringing it to the surface can help us to understand how we can cope with it if we let it.
